My name is Nicole, but my friends call me Nico.
I moved to Japan this April to work as an English teacher. I have a bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies and Asian Studies, and I have been teaching English for over six years.
When I’m not teaching, I love to snowboard, rock climb, sing karaoke, and practice guitar.
I also enjoy listening to all kinds of music and going to live shows.
Recently my favorite bands are The Blue Hearts and Fishmans, but I’m always looking for new bands to listen to. If you have any favorite musicians please feel free to share them with me!
I am really loving my new life in Japan. All of the people I’ve met so far have been super friendly, kind, and helpful to me.
They’ve made adjusting to life abroad much easier than I expected. It’s been fun learning how to drive here (I’ve only driven on the wrong side of the road 3 times so far, not bad right?).
I also think the food in Japan is amazing. My favorite breakfast is natto and rice! I’ve been trying to learn how to cook Japanese dishes, but I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it yet.
If you have any good recipes or cooking advice, I’d love to hear about them.
If this is your first time to talk with a native English speaker on Skype, don’t worry.
I’m kind of a conversation expert. I know some Japanese, so when you’re at a loss for words, I can help you figure out what you want to say in English.
Learning a language is all about making mistakes, so don’t stress if you think your English isn’t perfect. Let’s just chat and have fun!
